Like a lot of you, I was brought up with animals. No, I wasn't raised by a pack of wolves or anything but my family always had dogs or cats or both. Matter of fact, my first dog, Peewee, came into my life the day I was brought home from the hospital after being born. Always having animals as a part of life helped me learn at a very early age the unconditional love, devotion, and support they provide.
As I got older, I discovered that adopting or rescuing an animal provides an even greater joy! Because even though introducing a new animal into the household can be sometimes trying, the rescued animal seems to remember his/her “street” life and wants to shower you with gratitude the rest of his/her life.
While that joy is indescribable, it also makes it even more distressing to see other homeless animals wandering the streets or living penned up in cages at shelters - wanting, waiting for, and deserving a forever, LOVING home.
But worst of all is to read about all the poor animals, young and old, who are deemed "unadoptable" and therefore euthanized!
That is why we must speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves!
On the following pages, please read our “Happy Tails” adoption/rescue stories.
Share your successful adoption experiences by emailing us via the form located on the "Contact Merlin Magic" webpage and I'll post your story for others to see.
And finally, I ask that you help make a difference.
Back several years ago, I wrote and illustrated a couple of children's books -"A Different Kind of Family" and "Good Dog...Not So Good Dog." After receiving rejections from publishers who said they no longer wanted books with “talking animals,” I decided to self-publish.
The plight of homeless animals led me to create this website, self-publish the books, and donate a portion of the proceeds from the sales of the books to animal shelters and/or organizations dedicated to animal welfare.
See more about the books on the "Help Make a Difference" webpage.
BTW, in case you're wondering where the Merlin Magic fits in...my husband is the Merlin and I'm the Magic <grin>
